The Musa Punks of the Diositas Series are part of Red Dot at Blue Star 2025
The Musa Punks are an open edition of four natural dyed textile serigraphs reinterpreting La Virgen as teenage punk curly girls growing up in South and Central Texas. The M’s on their hands are drawn from my personal history of being clearly marked as a minor at all ages rock concerts here in the 1990s. My now teenage daughter Lana graciously agreed to be my muse for this series.
Hand tinted, screenprinted, block and ferrous printed on reclaimed 100% cotton sheet.
Each about 36 1/2” x 34 1/2” as framed.
Musa Punk Del Rio Brava will be on display at The Contemporary at Blue Star as part of Red Dot 2025, and I’ve made the entire edition available as part of their biggest artist-centered fundraiser of the year. See her in real life, November 14, 2025 through January 4, 2026!
The Musa Punks originally debuted at Mexic-Arte Museum in March 2025 as part of their Changarrito Residency.
