BIOGRAPHY

Sarah Gonzales Busse is an artist, activist, Tejana futurist, advocate, and mother of three, whose work focuses on women and children as messengers and receivers within the human condition, specifically how we embody narrative histories and cultural geographies. Her materials and approaches have ranged from painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture, to more recently, paper, print, and textile, as she responds to being an artist and mother in these times of evolving cultural narratives and climate uncertainties.

Born and currently based with her family in San Antonio, TX, her work and practice is also influenced by time spent living in Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, and the Peloponnese. She studied at Pomona College and the Claremont Colleges (BA, Painting and Sculpture, 1997) and the Southwest School of Art (Paper and Printmaking).
