Bountiful Bonham Gardens

Restart a robust classroom gardens and environmental systems progam to support the Environmental Science academic pillar following a two year whole campus district bond renovation project.

Through a series of quarterly Family Garden Work Day Potlucks, 13 vegetable plots, gathering tables, benches, and a tool shed were built by the Middle School students and volunteering families. Fruit trees and schoolyard wildscape habitats were added near the playgrounds. A rainbow color tiered perennial plot mirrors the colorful facade of the nearby campus building. Quarterly Family Garden Days to weed, maintain, build new, potluck, and grow community continue.

Bountiful Bonham Garden collaborators included Jason Siptak, the environmental science teacher, and Michelle Gorham, horticulturalist and PTA President during the project.

Donations from City of San Antonio Arborist and city nursery along with selections from local garden centers helped complete our milkweed selections. Mayor Ivy Taylor attended our garden fiesta to certify our pollinator gardens as official Monarch butterfly waystations.
