TThe Musa Punks are an open edition of four natural dyed textile serigraphs reinterpreting La Virgen as teenage punk curly girls growing up in South and Central Texas. The M’s on their hands are drawn from my personal history of being clearly marked as a minor at all ages rock concerts here in San Antonio in the 1990s. My now teenage daughter Lana graciously agreed to be my muse for this series.

Hand tinted, screenprinted, block and ferrous printed with natural dye pastes including pomegranate, marigold, cochineal, osage, and logwood on reclaimed 100% cotton sheet.

Each about 36 1/2” x 34 1/2” as framed.

The Musa Punks originally debuted at Mexic-Arte Museum in March 2025 as part of their Changarrito Residency.
